The ECC Cascade Learning Resource Center is the new home to numerous resources including the John N. Terrey Library & Media Center, Writing Center, eLearning, Instructional Media Services, the Russell Day Gallery and the Center for Transformative Teaching. These core library resources and essential services provide an updated hub to support growing enrollment for students looking to kick start their careers after college, and a community in need of skilled workers.

Mission Glass' portion of the work including multi-span curtainwalls with a high visibility glass to allow the clearest view of outdoors spaces and the Olympic Mountains in the distance. These seamlessly incorporated both horizontal and vertical sunshades, with attachment points concealed by extended cover caps that extended beyond the curtainwall frames to also frame the exterior brick facade in many locations. Along with an extensive exterior scope, the interiors also received a full build-out encompassing numerous study rooms and an interior Atrium that spans several floors and floods the area with natural lighting and vast open space.

The project received LEED Silver Certification, which was able to be achieved with the help of natural daylighting through the curtainwall and storefront systems, as well as the exterior shading provided by the exterior sun control, which was oriented vertically or horizontally depending on how each elevation was modeled to receive daylight throughout the year. This drastically helps to cut down on building cooling loads in the summer, while still allowing natural heat from the sun to penetrate the facade in the winter months.
